WHAT IS A SLUSHY?
A slushy or slushie, is a flavored frozen food.
It is a mixture of crushed ice and other ingredients that make a cold, thick and delicious beverages.
A slushy is made with fruits and sweet juices. or flavored syrups and crushed ice.
This recipe is made with fruit, lime juice and lime sherbet.
THE INGREDIENTS
The ingredients in this recipe are Lime Sherbet, Crushed Pineapples In Juice, and Persian Limes.
I used affordable Persian limes because they’re available in most grocery store. Taste is similar to Key limes which are hard to find in my area.
WHAT IS SHERBET?
Sherbet is defined as a frozen fruit juice and sugar mixture served as a dessert or between courses of a meal to cleanse the palate.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN KEY LIMES AND PERSIAN LIMES?
According to TheTastingTable.com, Key limes are smaller and contain more seeds than Persian limes.
Key limes, also known as Mexican or West Indian limes, are more aromatic, with a very tart and floral juice.
Persian limes are popular in U.S. grocery stores and farmers markets.
The skin on Persian limes is thick and bright green. The skin on Key limes is thin and slightly yellow.
SERVING SUGGESTION
Serve Pineapple Lime Slushy chilled and with a slice of lime.

Pineapple Lime Slushy
Ingredients
- 2 quarts lime sherbet frozen
- 1 can (20 ounces) crushed pineapples in juice drained
- 2 limes Key Limes or Persian Limes
- crushed ice optional
Instructions
- In a medium-sized container, combine lime sherbet and crushed pineapples (drained). Save the pineapple juice for later use or drink it.
- Squeeze 1/2 of one lime into mixture. Stir well. Taste. Squeeze second half if desired. Cover and chill at least 1 hour before serving. Or, serve immediately over crushed ice.
- Slice second lime. Use slices to garnish each serving.
