Millionaire Salad

Millionaire Salad is a heart salad drizzled with Homemade Ranch Dressing.

Quick and easy to make.

Enjoy as a side dish or a light main dish.

This big salad is literally a meal in a bowl.

Loaded with shredded cheddar cheese, chopped boiled eggs, meat and various other

mix-ins.

Pairs well with buttery crackers or cornbread croutons.

Homemade Cornbread Croutons are simply small “chopped pieces” of thin cornbread. They add flavor and texture to salads.

Although crusty, these croutons are not hard like classic store-bought croutons.

Simple recipe is included in the instructions below.

Homemade dressing does not have preservatives and tastes much better than store-bought.

ENJOY!

Ingredients Method Notes

Ingredients

Millionaire Salad
  • 4 cups chopped lettuce butter or iceberg
  • 2 large boiled eggs, chopped
  • 1 large tomato, chopped
  • 1 small red onion, chopped
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded or crumbled blue cheese
  • 8 slices black forest ham or turkey or fried bacon, crumbled
  • 6 strips fried chicken, chopped
  • 1 cup carrots, shredded
Homemade Ranch Dressing
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon chives, chopped fresh or dried
  • 1/2 teaspoon dill weed, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Method

Cobb Salad
  1. In large bowl, toss together all ingredients (except dressing) until well combined. Drizzle with salad dressing before serving.
Homemade Ranch Dressing
  1. In large bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, dried chives, dried parsley, dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and ground black peppers.
  2. Taste a sample. Add more seasonings if desired.
  3. Cover and refrigerate 35 minutes before serving. This step is important. Salad dressing will taste better after refrigeration.
  4. Makes a good dip or salad dressing.

Notes

How To Make Cornbread Croutons
1. Use my recipe for Homemade Self-Rising Cornbread.
2. Pour cornbread batter into a 12" cast iron pan or baking dish.
3. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 20-25 minutes.
4.  Cornbread will be thin (less than 1/4" thick).  Watch closely to prevent burning.
5.  Slice into small squares.  Serve hot.
Bottom crust has a delicious crunchy texture. NOT too hard like store-bought croutons.
