EDITOR’S NOTE (April 27, 2020): Added garlic powder, onion powder and Italian seasoning. Updated recipe’s instructions.
Pizza Toast is hearty, delicious and very easy to make with simple ingredients you may already have available.
Perfect for lunch or enjoy as a light dinner. Pairs well with corn chips, fries, leafy green salad, potato chips, and fries.
I always toast my bread before adding the toppings.
Stays crisp which is much better than overly soft, mushy bread (my opinion).
Although beef and mozzarella cheese are key ingredients, you can add preferred toppings like pepperoni pieces, grilled onions, grilled green peppers, black olives, and cheddar cheese.
The inspiration for this recipe was my need for a quick “meal” while editing recipes for this blog. I took a short break and whipped up this Pizza Toast. Voila! Delighted to share with you.
DISCLOSURE: Not sponsored. Simply sharing the loaves of bread in our fridge at the moment. Both white and honey wheat bread are perfect for Pizza Toast.
My aunt uses a clothespin to close loaves of bread, crackers, chopped lettuce and other bagged food. Rheumatoid arthritis has twisted her fingers and toes. A clothespin is easy for my precious aunt to open and close.
Who invented pizza?
Baker Raffaele Esposito from Naples is often given credit for making the first pizza pie. However, historians claim street vendors in Naples sold flatbreads with toppings many years before then.
Italian King Umberto I and Queen Margherita visited Naples in 1889 and asked Esposito to make them a pizza. He topped the pizza with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil. Today, that pizza is still known as Pizza Margherita.
Serve with bottled water or any of the following over crushed ice: apple juice, lemonade, ginger ale or your favorite soda.
